Hey Everyone!
Today was a great day, maybe one of my favorites! We woke up this morning to surprising news that three of my classmates had some sort of food poisoning and wouldn't be joining us for our trip to Bathe. We were a bit sad, but we still went and had a great time! We started our day at a bizarre 18th century theatre that was converted into a free masonry temple. We learned a little bit about what free masonry is/ was and how it has changed over the years. It was a little wacky, but it was fun to learn something new!
After the tour, Dr. Bell took us to see 2 architectural sites, the Royal Crescent and the Circus. They were both in the Georgian Style and were gorgeous! We took the time after to go get some lunch. A few of us snuck into a little cafe and enjoyed some burgers. We did a little shopping and then met up with Dr. Bell to go see the Roman Baths. They were incredible! It was arguably the coolest thing I have seen since we have been here. Several of us "illegally" touched the waters in the Great Bath and many of us "took the water" at Bathe. That is just a fancy expression they used to use when they would drink the water. It was actually really nasty.
When we all finished our adventures in the Roman Baths, we journeyed over a block and had some tea. Of course I didn't have any tea because I don't like it, but we did have some famous buns. I really enjoyed it! After a long day in Bathe, we journeyed back to the hostel to collect our things and move on to our next stop, Liverpool. We dragged all of our things and have just arrived here in Liverpool. It should be an interesting experience as there is a dance party going on in the basement, which is the only place we get Wifi! Love and miss you all!
I hope your classmates feel better tomorrow. What a bummer!
ReplyDeleteDying to see your pictures; bet you got some great shots!
Well, if you can't beat them, join them(the dance party that is!)
Love you,
Mom
